    Ancient Appian Way

    This road was one of the most strategic of ancient Rome. These were the very roads where Emperors once walked. You will see some traces of ancient Rome such as the Baths of Caracalla built during the reign of Emperors Septimius Severus and Caracalla. At that time, there were the second largest public baths in Rome.
    You will also see the tomb of Cecilia Metella. It is one of the most well-preserved of monuments of ancient Rome.
    The next stop is the church of Domine Quo Vadis where it is believed that Jesus met St Peter and it is then that St Peter decided to go back to Rome and accept his death – which ended up in the hands of Emperor Nero.
    When you visit the Catacombs, you will be transported back to the early centuries and learn about first Christian communities in ancient Rome and the influence of Catholicism during those times. The most famous catacombs on this visit include one among these: San Callisto, San Sebastiano, and Domitilla.

    Spectacular private tour!
    We got to the Vatican early for the first tour of the day, and were whisked in with no lines and no crowds. Our guide spoke perfect English and was knowledgeable enough to entertain our family of four, including our two teenaged boys!
