Ancient Appian Way
This was one of the most strategic and ancient roads of Rome. These were the very roads where Emperors once walked. You will see some traces of ancient Rome such as the Baths of Caracalla which were built during the reign of Emperors Septimius Severus and Caracalla. At that time, there were the second largest public baths in Rome.
You will also see the tomb of Cecilia Metella. It is one of the most well-preserved of monuments of ancient Rome.
The next stop is the church of Domine Quo Vadis where it is believed that Jesus met St Peter and it is then that St Peter decided to go back to Rome and accept his death – which ended up in the hands of Emperor Nero.
When you visit the Catacombs, you will be transported back to the early centuries and learn about early Christian communities in ancient Rome and the influence of Catholicism during those times. The most famous catacombs on this visit include: San Callisto, San Sebastiano, and Domitilla.

- If St Peter’s Basilica is closed for a religious function at short notice as it is a working church, you can spend more time in the Vatican Museums or the Sistine Chapel with your guide.
